Selling at Auction

How do I have my items valued for auction?
If you wish to have your items valued for auction you can do it via the following
  • Visit our salesrooms. Please check beforehand to make sure that a valuer is on site.
  • If you have large items which are difficult to bring down to the salerooms take some photos and either email them or WhatsApp Sean on 0862640459. There is no obligation to put them into an auction.

Do you charge for a valuation?
We do not charge for an auction valuation and there is no obligation to sell with us. We hope, however, that you choose to consign your art and antiques with Sean Eacrett Auctions. Insurance and Probate valuations do carry a fee. Please contact us by email sean@ashgrovegroup.ie

Do you offer a collection service?
You can bring the items to our Auction Rooms or there are a list of carriers on the Home Page.

How do I know I’ll achieve the best price for my item?
The auctioneer will always use their discretion to achieve the item's full value. Instructions for specific reserves must be received in writing prior to the auction day. On arrival to Sean Eacrett, your items will be labelled with your personal reference number so they won’t get mixed up with others. As we are on a set percentage of the sale price it is in our interest to achieve the best price we can for you.

What will I be charged when I sell an item at auction?
Commission rates are 15% of the hammer price of each lot plus vat @23% on that commission. There is a minimum commission on every lot of €5 when sold.

When it is a Fine Art sale in our own auction rooms there is no individual charge for advertisement.
Onsite house contents are subject to different fees and should be discussed with the auctioneer for rates.

Withdrawal Charges
The withdrawal fee for a lot which has been catalogued is 25% of the reserve price or the auctioneers upper estimate of the auction value, subject to a minimum charge of £35 plus VAT

Removal Charges
Sean Eacrett can arrange full and part clearances at a cost of approximately £45 per hour per one man and van, €70 for two men and van, € 25 per man after that. All goods deemed unsuitable for auction will be disposed of.

When do I receive payment for a lot which has sold?
The net sale proceeds received from the buyer in cleared funds will be forwarded to the vendor no later than 28 working days after the auction (we endeavour to settle non-catalogued auctions within 14 days after the auction) The net sale proceeds are the hammer price less commission and expenses. (Expenses – removals, etc)
